First ever Frozen World to open at Hong Kong Disneyland

Frozen cartoon characters Elsa, Anna, Olaf and Sven have a new home on a subtropical island in Asia. World of Frozen, Disney's first themed land based on the Frozen media franchise, opened at Hong Kong Disneyland on November 20th.

The new park area on Hong Kong's Lantau Island brings the fictional kingdom of Arendelle to life, incorporating several elements from key scenes from popular films such as North Mountain, Elsa's Ice Palace, an ice fountain with snowflakes and a clock tower where Anna and Prince Hans sing "Love is this is an open door,” writes CNN.

“The Frozen franchise is one of the most successful in Disney history,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said in Hong Kong on November 16 at the World of Frozen opening event.

Disney Imagineers spent over three years developing the concept and design of the new attraction. The franchise itself is only 10 years old, with the first Frozen film released in 2013, followed by Frozen 2 in 2019, as well as several short films and TV shows.
