The first three governors who won direct elections on September 11 officially took office on Friday. According to the law, a month is allotted for the inauguration, but the elected heads of the Saratov, Vladimir and Kaliningrad regions decided not to delay and held the ceremony literally a day after the vote was summed up. The rest of the election winners are going to go through this procedure next week.

In fact, the very first governor to be inaugurated was also the first winner of the gubernatorial elections, although not direct ones. Head of Adygea elected not by residents, but by deputies of the State Council of the Republic. On Sunday, they unanimously supported the candidacy Marat Kumpilovaafter which the head of the republic immediately read out the oath and took office.

The results of direct elections in 14 subjects were officially summed up only on Wednesday. The next day, the leaders of the race were presented with certificates of the elected candidates. By law, they must take office no earlier than the expiration of the powers of the previous head, but no later than 30 days from the date of the official summing up of the voting results. However, on Friday Alexander Avdeev (Vladimir region), Anton Alikhanov (Kaliningrad region) and Roman Busargin (Saratov region) were inaugurated. The first two, we recall, scored more than 80% of the vote, the last - more than 70%.

Roman Busargin himself assured the residents that he would do everything not to let them down. He expressed gratitude to President Vladimir Putin and United Russia, and in his opening speech he focused on the problems of demography. “We don't like to talk about this topic, but the first step to a solution is acknowledging the problem. For seven months of this year, the number of inhabitants of the region has decreased by almost 16 thousand people. This is a very high figure,” the governor said, promising to support families with children. He also named attracting investments to the region as one of the priorities of his five-year plan.

At the inauguration ceremony Alexandra Avdeeva Presidential envoy to the Central Federal District Igor Shchegolev, representatives of both chambers of the federal parliament took part. The presidential representative noted that in the context of a special military operation in Ukraine, it is necessary "to show responsibility and solidarity, to provide the necessary assistance in a timely manner to military personnel and their families, as well as to all those who find themselves in a difficult life situation at this difficult time." According to him, "now for us the family, friendship, mutual assistance, mercy and solidarity have come to the fore." “I am sure that in my activities as governor Vladimir region you will work based on these principles,” the plenipotentiary said, addressing Governor Avdeev. The latter did not speak at the inauguration, confining himself to reading the oath.

Finally, to the solemn ceremony to the Kaliningrad region Alexander Gutsan, senators and deputies of the State Duma, as well as the command of the Baltic Fleet arrived. Mr. Gutsan stated that over the past five years Anton Alikhanov showed himself to be a professional who “does not hide his head in the sand”, so he can be trusted with “a region of strategic importance for our country”. The governor himself re-elected, called the previous five-year plan “a time of honest work”, and in the upcoming one he promised “not just to work, but to achieve results”: “The Kaliningrad region will continue its development, remaining one of the most beautiful regions. This is the Russian frontier, the land of the world, this is our land.” Mr. Alikhanov finished pathetically: “I promise to serve the people and our Russian state. And may the Lord help us."

The inaugurations of the other winners are scheduled for next week: on September 19, Mikhail Evraev (Yaroslavl region) and Evgeny Kuyvashev (Sverdlovsk region) will take office, on the 20th - Maxim Egorov (Tambov region), on the 21st - Alexey Tsydenov (Buryatia), on the 22nd th - Vladimir Mazur (Tomsk region), 23rd - Yuri Zaitsev (Mari El) and Alexander Sokolov (Kirov region). The dates of taking office of Pavel Malkov (Ryazan region), Andrey Nikitin (Novgorod region), Artur Parfenchikov (Karelia) and Alexander Brechalov (Udmurtia) have not yet been determined.
