Investment broker “Finam” will prohibit the opening of new short positions in euros in the near future. This is reported TASS with a link to a notification from the broker’s client mailing list in the mobile application.

“In the coming days, opening short positions on the EUR (euro) instrument will become unavailable,” Finam said in a statement. The broker asked clients to take this information into account when planning trading operations.

It is customary to use various trading strategies on exchanges. The most common is a long position, which is to buy securities, wait until they rise in price and sell profitably. You can also make a profit by taking advantage of falling quotes. This way of earning is called a short position.

Earlier, Finam increased the risk rate to 100% to secure margin positions in US dollars, British pounds and euros. From August 15 broker introduced for its clients a commission for keeping US dollars, euros and pounds sterling in brokerage accounts.
