Film director Gennady Bazarov dies in Kyrgyzstan


At the age of 80, the director, screenwriter and writer Gennady Bazarov died. This was reported to TASS in the Union of Cinematographers of Kyrgyzstan. The cause of death is not given.

“Kyrgyz cinematography suffered a heavy loss, Gennady Sadyrovich died,” said the representative of the union. The place and date of the funeral are still unknown.

Gennady Bazarov graduated from the directing department of VGIK. He worked as the director of the film studio "Kyrgyzfilm", headed the film academy of the republic. He was awarded the title of Honored Art Worker and People's Artist of Kyrgyzstan. He was the director of more than a dozen films, including "Mother's Field", based on the story of the writer Chingiz Aitmatov.
