Family members of Novosibirsk City Council deputy Helga Pirogova searched

In Novosibirsk, searches were carried out at the residence of Helga Pirogova, a city council deputy, and her relatives. This was announced by the deputy herself, who left Russia after she became a defendant in the case of spreading fakes about the Russian army.

According to Mrs. Pirogova, equipment and telephones were confiscated from her husband and brother, searches were also carried out at her husband's parents and at their dacha. “The lawyer was not allowed in,” she said on Twitter. She also clarified that after the start of the searches, she could not contact her husband for 6 hours and 30 minutes.

The fact of the searches, which began early in the morning on August 16, was confirmed to Kommersant by City Council deputy Svetlana Kaverzina, who, like Helga Pirogova, was elected to the City Council with the support of the Coalition-2020 association. The investigative department of the TFR in the Novosibirsk region does not comment on the situation.

As Kommersant reported, Helga Pirogova became a defendant in a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 207.3 of the Criminal Code (distribution of fakes about the armed forces of the Russian Federation) at the end of July. The reason for the criminal prosecution was the comment of the deputy about the Russian servicemen who died during the special operation. The Commission on Deputy Ethics of the Novosibirsk City Council, in connection with the commentary, issued a remark to Helga Pirogova about “cynical and unethical behavior.” Soon after the initiation of the criminal case, it became known that she had left Russia for Georgia. Now a member of the City Council is wanted.
