Export of coal through the ports of the North-West of Russia increased by a third



Transportation of coal for export by rail in the direction of the ports of the North-West of Russia increased over the first 24 days of January 2023 by 32.9% compared to the same period last year. This was announced at a briefing on January 25 by Deputy General Director of Russian Railways Alexei Shilo. He did not provide data on the volume of coal exports.

Shilo noted that the growth in transportation began at the end of 2022. According to the top manager, in the III-IV quarter of last year, domestic coal companies were able to solve the logistical difficulties associated with finding ships and choosing optimal supply points.
