Every second Russian believes that there is no threat of a military attack on Russia



Less than half (41%) of Russians believe that there is currently a threat of a military attack on Russia, showed interview VTsIOM held in August. Every second respondent holds the opposite opinion. Compared to the previous study (in August 2019), the number of people who fear an attack has increased by 10 percentage points (percentage points). However, it remains below the high recorded in April 2018.

Among the countries that pose a threat, respondents most often named the United States. In second place is Ukraine. At the same time, compared with 2019, the number of those who fear the United States has increased, while the number of Ukraine has decreased. Less than 10% of respondents see a threat from the NATO bloc.
