Turkish President Recem Tayyip Erdogan announced constant contact with the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky, and intends to continue efforts to organize negotiations between them. About it reported “RIA News”.

“For a fair and peaceful end to the Ukrainian conflict, we continue our diplomatic efforts. I am in constant contact with Mr. Putin and Mr. Zelensky. We will continue our efforts to the end in order to bring the parties back to the negotiating table,” Erdogan said at an extraordinary summit of the Organization of Turkic States.

In October 2022, Erdogan announced that he was ready to hold telephone conversations with the leaders of Russia and Ukraine. Then he planned to do it “in the coming days.” On October 4 of the same year, Zelensky signed a document refusing to negotiate with Russia as long as Putin is its president.

The Turkish President has repeatedly advocated ending the conflict. On February 24 of this year, Erdogan, during telephone conversations with Putin, said that Ankara was in favor of establishing peace in Ukraine without further casualties and destruction. On the same day, the Turkish president also told Zelensky that Turkey was ready to contribute to achieving peace in the country.

On January 11, Turkish Ombudsman Sheref Malkoç said that within the framework of a trilateral meeting of the Ombudsmen of Turkey, Russia and Ukraine, the parties could agree on the opening of a humanitarian corridor to help victims in connection with the situation in Ukraine. Then Erdogan supported the idea of organizing humanitarian corridors for the wounded. According to him, Turkey is ready to take over their treatment.
