Power supply to Energodar, a city located in the Russian-controlled part of the Zaporozhye region near a nuclear power plant, is carried out as usual, the head of the city administration Alexander Volga said on Sunday.

This statement was made after a complete shutdown of the ZNPP, which occurred on the night of September 11, when the last operating power unit of the station, the 6th, was turned off.

The city’s power supply, according to Volga, is carried out “partially, in some areas work is underway to turn on transformers, but this mainly concerns the industrial zone.” The residential sector, as the head of administration noted, is fully illuminated.

At the Zaporizhzhya NPP, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe with six VVER-1000 power units, only the fifth and sixth power units have been working recently, against the backdrop of constant shelling by Ukrainian troops.

The authorities of the region have previously stated that a complete shutdown of the ZNPP is being considered.

On September 1, the station was visited by an IAEA mission. On September 6, the IAEA presented a report in which it pointed out the need to stop military activity near the ZNPP and create a security zone.
