Earth-like planet discovered "near" the solar system

Astronomers have confirmed the presence of an Earth-like planet orbiting the cool red dwarf K2-415, located 71.2 light-years from the Sun.

In space terms, K2-415, or TOI-5557, is close to the solar system. The planet, called K2-415b, differs in radius from the Earth by 1.5 percent, and the year on it lasts 4.02 Earth days.

It is assumed that the planet is about three times the mass of the Earth. Astronomers believe that it is most likely unsuitable for the existence of life, because it is too hot for this.

The authors of the scientific work used data obtained using the TESS space telescope, as well as ground-based Subaru telescopes and the WIYN observatory.
