Director Nikolai Dostal decided to leave the Oscar Committee following Pavel Chukhrai in connection with the decision of the Russian Film Academy not to nominate a Russian film for the Academy Award “Oscar”. This is stated in the appeal of the director, who came into the possession of RIA Novosti.

Earlier, the Presidium of the Film Academy of the Russian Federation did not nominate a domestic film for the Oscar. Because of this, the head of the Russian Oscar Committee, Pavel Chukhrai, announced that he was leaving his post, because he considers the decision of the Russian Film Academy, taken “through the head of the Oscar Commission”, illegal and insulting.
As it became known, Chukhrai sent a letter to representatives of the Russian Oscar Committee. In it, the film director emphasized that this decision was made unilaterally.
