At the Cian CRE.Conf 2022 conference, Nikolay Sarokvasha announced the deadlines for putting up for auction the complex of the former Kresty detention center at Arsenalnaya Embankment, 7 in St. Petersburg: “We plan to go out next year, of course. Probably in the second half of the year. We will involve experts, gather a professional community,” said Mr. Sarokvasha. He clarified that when selling the former prison, Dom.RF will use his experience in selling historical objects.

The decision to transfer the “Crosses” to a state-owned company and to sell the complex of the former prison at auction was made at the end of last week by the government commission for the development of housing construction and the assessment of the efficiency of using land owned by the Russian Federation. The area of ​​4.2 hectares, where the Kresty detention center was located, will be divided into three sections. 3.9 hectares, on which there are two buildings of the pre-trial detention center with an area of ​​164 thousand square meters. m, will be handed over to Dom.RF for sale, another 0.3 hectares with dormitory buildings for guards will remain with the administration of the Federal Penitentiary Service for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

Experts considerthat it will be extremely problematic to sell a territory with a gloomy history for residential development, it is better to use it for a multifunctional commercial function, including apartments and public space.
