Dmitry Drize - about the discussion around the childfree ban

Representatives of the New People party did not support the bill banning childfree propaganda and stated this publicly. In particular, they fear that successful women who have chosen a career will find themselves in the risk category. State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin harshly criticized his colleagues for this. According to him, the documents were approved by the government and agreed upon with the Federation Council. Kommersant FM political commentator Dmitry Drize believes that the “New People” will eventually find the necessary arguments.

A sensation occurred in the State Duma within five minutes - in the Russian parliament there were dissenters, and not just individuals, but an entire faction. “New People” do not support the bill banning the propaganda of the notorious childfree. The deputy leader of the faction, Sardana Avksentyeva, wrote on the Telegram channel that she and her associates “will remain the voice of reason” in the State Duma and therefore oppose the initiative.

The people's representatives were concerned that innocent citizens might suffer for no reason. Nobody really asks them what they think about this.

And here deputy Ksenia Goryacheva gives a specific example: a successful woman will say in an interview that she is focused on her career and does not yet plan to have children. And for this, the harsh Russian law can immediately punish her, there is such a danger. This raises an interesting question: do we even need successful women and men? Or can we cope without them? Previously, it was believed that these categories of citizens are the engine of progress.

However, let's not get distracted. The chairman of the lower house, Vyacheslav Volodin, harshly criticized the “New People”: “Were you born in a test tube and became politicians? Where did you come from? Because not a single mother, not a single grandmother, not a single father in their right mind will tick the box and support a person who opposes the initiative to ban what? Not the right to choose, but propaganda.” The emphasis here is that every Russian woman has the right to decide whether to become a mother or not, but it is impossible to promote the refusal of childbearing.

Meanwhile, the New People are not the only ones objecting. In the Presidential Human Rights Council too not happy from such an innovation. The point is that we create additional advertising for a movement that only a few know about. And are childfree representatives strong enough to influence anything in the Russian state? Meanwhile, I would like to move away from this topic. Most likely, there will be the necessary arguments for those who disagree. The government approved it, the commissions supported it, and positive feedback was sent from the localities. Isn't all this enough for you? So vote, comrades, don’t delay the work process.

Nevertheless, I still want to naively ask: at the present stage of the country’s development, is it possible for us to at least object to something and disagree with something? And, it’s even scary to think, do it publicly? Well, at least a little, for the simplest reason? Not shaking the foundations, but for the sake, so to speak, of the interests of the common man, for whom, as it may sometimes seem, everything has already been thought and decided. The answer is obvious. Of course, you can disagree in order to later allow yourself to be convinced. This will make it easier for everyone.
