It was in the spring of 2021 at Poush Manifesto, the “artist incubator” then Porte de Clichy, that the painter Dhewadi Hadjab revealed himself to collectors. Born in 1992 in M’Sila (Algeria), this serious, focused, modest young man presented his paintings without emphasis, which combine the golden beige classicism of Jacques-Louis David and the disarticulated and heartbreaking dance of Pina Bausch. . His little studio was tidy, his paintings in progress placed against the wall, without frames or legends. For the two very large formats in progress on the ecstasy of prayer, intended for the Saint-Eustache church, near Les Halles, he had temporarily migrated to a larger workshop. This manifest talent, this rare modesty are intact, in a world easily tempted by the effects of sleeves.
