19-year-old student Nikita Zhuravel, accused of burning the Koran in Volgograd, was taken to a pre-trial detention center in the capital of Chechnya. According to investigators, the Koran near the Cathedral Mosque in Volgograd burned no later than May 19. On this day, a video of the incident appeared on the Internet, which depicts a certain person (only his hand is visible). The ICR opened a case under Part 2 of Art. 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (insulting the feelings of believers). During the interrogation, Nikita Zhuravel stated that he carried out the action “on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services for a reward of 10 thousand rubles.” Central District Court of Volgograd arrested him for two months, and the case was transferred to Chechnya.
