Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Deputy Head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation Olga Skorobogatova fell under US sanctions, the US Treasury said in a statement.

After the signing in the Kremlin of agreements on the entry into the Russian Federation of new regions – the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, the US Treasury issued a statement on the introduction of new sanctions against Russia. The sanctions list includes dozens of individuals and legal entities. In particular, the statement of the US Treasury includes the head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation Elvira Nabiullina, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and the entire Federation Council.

As for Novak and Skorobogatova, they are accused of supporting the Kremlin’s “unprovoked war.” The report notes that Novak has contributed to the development of Russian exports throughout his career, and Skorobogatova is the curator of the Russian payment system Mir and “the operations of the Central Bank in the Russian and foreign financial markets.”
