Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Yudaeva allowed new freezing of assets of Russian investors

Since the topic of sanctions is still on the agenda, the freezing of assets of Russian investors "theoretically" can still occur, said the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank, Ksenia Yudaeva.

“We are faced with frosts, and frosts, purely theoretically, can still occur, because, as I said, the topic of sanctions has not been removed from the agenda,” a representative of the regulator said in an interview. Tinkoff Private Talks.

At the beginning of March 2022, Euroclear froze the account of the National Settlement Depository, through which the majority of Russian investors and management companies traded foreign securities. According to the Central Bank, more than 2.7 million shareholders were affected by the freezing of assets.

At the end of 2022, a number of Russian financial institutions sent documents for obtaining a special license to the European authorities, which would allow unfreezing the assets placed in the depository. As of today, February 2, the assets are still blocked.
