Danish Energy Agency (DEA) reported, which discovered an unknown object near the Nord Stream gas pipeline. It invited the project operator, Nord Stream 2 AG, to take part in the extraction operation.

According to the DEA, the found object has a cylindrical shape, it is about 40 cm in height and 10 cm in diameter. The agency did not rule out that it was a marine smoke buoy. According to preliminary data, it “does not pose an immediate security threat.”

“In order to clarify the nature of the object, the Danish authorities decided to raise it with the assistance of the Danish Ministry of Defense. In this regard, the Danish Energy Agency has invited the owner of the gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 AG to take part in the operation,” the DEA said, adding that it is awaiting a response from the company.

The explosions at Nord Stream and the non-launched Nord Stream 2 occurred on September 26, 2022. Russia considers them acts of international terrorism. In March, The New York Times, citing intelligence reportedthat the explosions were staged by a pro-Ukrainian group. The Timeswrotethat their sponsor could be a citizen of Ukraine who is not associated with the government of Ukraine and President Volodymyr Zelensky. Russia spokethat Denmark, Germany and Sweden are denying her access to information on the investigation of the incident.
