Defense appeals life sentence for Ukrainian Armed Forces brigade commander Khrapach
The defense of Colonel Dmitry Khrapach, commander of the 27th rocket artillery brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment for ordering missile strikes on military facilities in the Belgorod region, has appealed this sentence. This was reported by lawyer Sergei Makarov. writes RIA Novosti.
"An appeal against the decision in the Khrapach case has been filed," the lawyer noted.
On September 4, the Second Western District Military Court sentenced Khrapach to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of 4 million rubles in damages.
According to the prosecution, Khrapach, acting as part of an organized group with the aim of intimidating the population and destabilizing the work of state bodies, gave orders for missile strikes on military units in the Belgorod region that were not participating in the special military operation in Ukraine. The case materials mention four such attacks that resulted in casualties and injuries among civilians, as well as material damage to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
In April, the Khamovnichesky District Court of Moscow arrested Khrapach in absentia on charges of murders committed in a generally dangerous manner by a group of people motivated by political, racial or other hatred.
In addition, the Supreme Court of the DPR also sentenced him in absentia to life imprisonment for organizing the murder of Yevgeny Rybakov, an employee of the military investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, who died as a result of the shelling of a hotel in Donetsk. The court found that it was Khrapach who gave the corresponding order.
