Daily Mail: Truss numbers and 26 members of the British government put up for sale online

As a result of the leak, the telephone numbers of British Prime Minister Liz Truss, as well as 26 members of the British government, were put up for sale on one of the American portals. They can be accessed at £6.5 ($7.2) per week. The newspaper reported Daily Mail.

According to the newspaper, the numbers of Chancellor of the Exchequer Kwazi Kwarteng, Secretary of Defense Ben Wallace, Foreign Secretary James Cleverley and Home Secretary Sawella Braverman were leaked.

On the evening of October 1, members of the Conservative Party at a meeting discussed the risks in the field of information security. Shortly before this, the Department of Homeland Security had warned them of a possible leak that included email addresses and passwords. The government said that some of the information is outdated. However, the newspaper, citing the Ministry of Security, claims that 27 phone numbers posted online belong to members of the government and the prime minister.

According to the newspaper, one of its journalists paid to access the site and found a number believed to belong to the prime minister. A newspaper reporter entered Liz Truss's phone number into WhatsApp, and a profile photo of the prime minister allegedly taken last Christmas appeared. The newspaper, citing the database with the leaks, said that the number of the prime minister was stolen as a result of a data leak from the Covve digital contact book in 2020.
