Customs posts in Georgia switched to emergency mode

All Georgian customs posts have switched to an emergency mode of operation due to the increased traffic flow. This was reported on Monday in the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of the country.

“Due to the increase in the traffic flow in the region as a whole, all customs posts have switched to a special mode of operation,” the report says.

They added that the number of customs officers at the checkpoint was increased for the smooth implementation of the customs control procedure around the clock. The service also notes that the customs procedures for trucks heading from Georgia to the Russian Federation are partially complicated due to interruptions on the Russian side of the Kazbegi-Upper Lars checkpoint.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs for North Ossetia called for refraining from traveling towards the border with Georgia through the Upper Lars checkpoint due to traffic jams there.
