CSR assessed the losses of foreign companies curtailing their activities in Russia



Since the end of February, foreign companies that have limited their activities or announced their withdrawal from the Russian market have lost from $200 billion to $240 billion, calculated experts of the Center for Strategic Research. Businesses from the USA, Great Britain and Germany suffered the greatest losses in value terms.

In terms of GDP, the largest losses occurred in the Finnish economy. The decision to leave was made by 80% of Finnish companies operating in Russia.

In total, as of September 9, 2022, 7% of the largest foreign companies operating in Russia announced their complete withdrawal from the domestic market. Another 34% limited their activities, 15% decided to leave the country through the transfer of the Russian division to the new owner. According to the CSR estimates, there were about 600 largest companies operating in Russia, which accounted for up to 1 million jobs.
