The United States is purposefully and systematically violating a bilateral memorandum on air safety in Syria. This was announced by Rear Admiral Oleg Gurinov, Deputy Head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria.

“There are ongoing flagrant violations of the deconflict protocols and the bilateral memorandum on air safety in Syria by the US-led so-called ‘international coalition’, which are targeted and systematic,” he said (cit. according to RIA Novosti).

According to Gurinov, since the beginning of the year, 452 cases of violations of security obligations have been recorded, which were associated with flights of UAVs and aviation of the “international coalition”, recently their number has grown significantly.

The memorandum on aviation safety during operations in Syrian airspace was signed between Russia and the United States in October 2015. Its main goal is to ensure flight safety. The document involves the use of specific safety protocols that all pilots must comply with.
