The Moscow Arbitration Court confirmed the legality of the fine of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia in almost 1.2 billion rubles, which she imposed on Apple for abuse of dominant position, transmits “RIA News”.

FAS fined Apple for 1.17 billion rubles. in January of this year. The American corporation, according to the department, imposed on Russian developers the need to use its payment system in their applications and forbade the use of other payment methods.

“The company demanded that developers remove links to their Internet resources and change the functionality of the application so that the registration form does not lead to external sites. Otherwise, the company did not allow applications in the App Store,” the FAS said at the time.

The FAS also noted that back in September 2022, Google lifted similar restrictions for developers after a warning from the department.

Despite the fact that Apple’s market share in the Russian Federation has dipped significantly, the company is still in the top three in terms of the number of smartphones used: Russians today have more than 13 million iPhones.
