conscription service period will not change due to SVO – Kommersant

The head of the organizational and mobilization department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Evgeny Burdinsky, said that the period of service within the framework of the autumn conscription, which started today, October 1, will not change. According to the decree signed by President Vladimir Putin, it will last from October 1 to December 31.

In an interview with Evgeny Burdinsky, journalists "Red Star" noted that the autumn conscription is not the first that takes place in the context of a special military operation. However, the question remains whether the SVO will affect conscripts.

“The events of both the past and current conscription are in no way connected with the conduct of the military training exercise. Military personnel undergoing military service on conscription, as before, will not be involved in participating in the tasks of a special military operation. The term of conscription service will remain unchanged,” answered the Colonel General.

In total, according to the presidential decree, from October to December in the army in Russia will be called upon 133 thousand people. Russians aged 18 to 30 will be called up for service. At the same time, soldiers, sailors, sergeants and foremen whose conscription period has expired will be transferred to the reserve. Conscripts will receive paper summons against signature or by registered mail. This fall, for the first time, decisions of draft commissions can be appealed pre-trial.
