Concert “Big Waltz” in MMDM

On October 9, the Grand Waltz concert will take place in the Svetlanov Hall of the Moscow International House of Music, in which the Moscow Symphony Orchestra “Russian Philharmonic” and soloist of the Bolshoi Theater Daria Zykova will perform.

Among all the dances, the waltz undoubtedly occupies a special place! Now it is impossible to imagine, but in 1816 the English newspaper The Times was indignant that the program of the royal ball included a “sensual and obscene dance” waltz. Nevertheless, the waltz very quickly gained extraordinary popularity, and in the 19th century it became the main dance of all balls. The solemn procession of the waltz began in Vienna, which was greatly facilitated by the famous compositions of the “king of waltzes” Johann Strauss son. His compositions have an irresistible effect on any audience – from simple music lovers to famous musicians of the world. It is interesting that the waltz also penetrates into “serious” music: into ballet, opera, then into a symphony and, finally, becomes an independent concert form.

What could be more beautiful than a waltz concert! Magical and enchanting world! Luxurious waltzes by Johann Strauss, solemn and festive waltzes from Tchaikovsky’s ballets, Chopin’s exquisite waltz, Khachaturian’s waltz from the music for Lermontov’s drama “Masquerade”, captivating waltz from the film “My Sweet and Gentle Beast” Dogi and many others will be performed on October 9 at Moscow International House of Music.
