Chinese MLBB game publisher denies licensing 'Games of the Future' organizers

The Chinese company Moonton, which develops the video game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), said that it has no agreements with the organizers of the Games of the Future championship, supervised by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. Earlier, a representative of ANO ARKIVS, which organizes the championship, told Kommersant about the conclusion of agreements with unnamed foreign game publishers. MLBB is listed on the Games of the Future website as one of the disciplines.

“I confirmed within the company: no license was issued,” Kelly Chew, Moonton's international public relations manager, told Kommersant.

The Games of the Future in Kazan are scheduled for 2024, the competition is positioned as an international one. Other video games featured on the program include Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, Mortal Kombat 11, and Beat Saber, all published by US-based Valve and Warner Bros. Games and the Czech Beat Games did not respond to Kommersant's requests. A Kommersant source familiar with the organization of the championship claimed that the issue of concluding agreements with the copyright holders of the games was still in the summer of 2022.
