Bulgaria allowed the export of oil products from the Lukoil refinery to Ukraine

From February 5, a permit for the export to Ukraine of oil products produced in Bulgaria from Russian oil will come into force. This decision was made on February 1, 2023 by the technical government of the country (the President of Bulgaria dissolved the parliament due to the impossibility of forming a ruling coalition). The issuance of such a permit is allowed for Bulgaria by EU anti-Russian sanctions.

The refinery in Burgas, Bulgaria, has been owned by the Russian company Lukoil since 1999. The refinery provides the country's domestic market with petroleum products, and also exports fuel to other European countries, the USA, North Africa and Asia. By the beginning of December 2022, the refinery processed a record 6.6 million tons of oil and exported 50–55% of its products, Ilshat Sharafutdinov, head of the plant, said.
