Brazilian President da Silva will not come to SPIEF



Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will not be able to come to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which will be held from 14 to 17 June. About this he wrote on Twitter.

“I just spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin. I thanked him for the invitation to visit the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg and replied that I could not come to Russia at the moment,” the message says.

According to him, he assured Putin of Brazil's readiness to engage in dialogue with "both sides [украинского] conflict in search of peace” along with China, Indonesia and India.

Telephone conversation between Russian and Brazilian leaders passed today, May 26th. For the sake of this conversation, Putin interrupted a meeting with members of the Delovaya Rossiya organization, which is taking place on Friday, the Day of Russian Entrepreneurship.

The conversation took place on the initiative of the Brazilian side, the Kremlin press service said. The President of Brazil shared with Putin his impressions of participating in the recent G7 summit, which took place in the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Da Silva also outlined his vision of possible mediation efforts to find ways to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
