Brazilian football players of “Zenith” decided to obtain Russian citizenship

Brazilian footballers Malcolm and Claudinho playing for Zenit have expressed a desire to become citizens of the Russian Federation.
“The information is reliable, our players really wished to become citizens of Russia,” the press service of the blue-and-whites told journalists, “This is their own initiative. As for the role of the club in this whole situation, the athletes asked to give them advice and provide all possible assistance. As part of this request, we sent relevant letters to the RFU and the Ministry of Sports. We are still waiting for feedback to find out if it is possible for our players to become citizens of the Russian Federation at the moment.”
Malcom has been playing for the St. Petersburg team since 2019. During this time, he successfully participated in 87 meetings and scored 23 goals. Also, together with Zenit, the athlete became the champion of the country 3 times. Claudinho came to the camp of “Peter” in 2021. He participated in 40 games and managed to score 11 goals.
Both athletes are 25 years old. They practically did not play for Brazil – they only participated in youth teams and competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics. There they earned gold medals.
