Bloomberg: Russian authorities plan to recruit 400 thousand contract soldiers to contain the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Agency Bloomberg citing “sources familiar with planning,” reported that quotas for the recruitment of a total of 400,000 contract soldiers had been lowered to the governments of the Russian regions. In the regions of the Russian Federation, the agency notes, they began to send summonses to the draft boards, where citizens are invited to sign a contract for service.

Bloomberg sources familiar with the plans said that the involvement of contractors would avoid a second wave of mobilization. The recruited contractors, the agency notes, will be involved in deterring the offensive of the armed forces of Ukraine, which is planned in the near future.

Earlier today, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, in an interview with Russian media, said that the General Staff of the Russian Federation was preparing decisions on the impending offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. “They are preparing for offensive operations, this is also known to everyone. Our General Staff is calculating this and is preparing its own decisions,” Mr. Medvedev said (quoted from “RIA News”).

In mid-March, reports began to appear in the media and social networks about the dispatch of subpoenas to the military registration and enlistment offices. In the military registration and enlistment offices of some regions “Kommersant” explainedthat the subpoenas are sent for the purpose of “reconciliation of data” as part of the work on the digital database of military records. According to the head of the human rights organization “Agora” Pavel Chikov (recognized as a foreign agent), as of March 17, reports of subpoenas came from 43 regions.
