In the Republic of Belarus, given the level of development of defense technologies, they do not yet need the deployment of Russian military bases on their territory. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei.

He also stressed that talks about the relevance of deploying Russian bases in the republic as a result of NATO’s military buildup near the borders have been going on for a long time, but he noted that no one knows what might happen in the future, but the unpredictability of partners cannot be ruled out.

“But at the moment, given the high level of military technology that has been achieved today, I think that there is not much point in placing additional foreign, in this case, Russian military bases on the territory of Belarus,” the Belarusian diplomat said.

Makei noted that it would be enough to place Russian military bases in the Smolensk region, rather than doing it on the territory of Belarus.
