Bashmet spoke about the "quiet sanctions" imposed by Russian musicians

Conductor and People's Artist of the USSR Yuri Bashmet said that he did not even want to think about touring abroad against the background of the aggravated political situation and numerous manifestations of Russophobia in the West.

He said that Russian musicians continue to receive invitations to perform abroad. But they are not answered. Bashmet noted that he had already "played" too much for them.

“I conducted, Gergiev, played Matsuev - that's enough. Let them now use the third grade. They still invite, but for now we are silent. These are “quiet sanctions” on our part,” Bashmet said.

The day before Yuri Bashmet participated in events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory at Stalingrad. On the square in front of the Volgograd railway station, the premiere of the performance-concert "The Living and the Dead" based on the novel by Konstantin Simonov took place.
