The American company Apple complied with the order of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS) in the case of restrictions on applications hosted in the App Store. About it reported in the department’s press office.
In August 2020, the FAS recognized Apple as violating antitrust laws and issued an order to eliminate violations. According to the document, the company restricted the developers of mobile parental control applications, which did not create competition in the market. The application was submitted by the Russian IT company Kaspersky Lab.
“Apple has adopted an additional agreement to the DPLA (Developer License Agreement), which excludes the application of the clause on the exclusion of applications for Russian developers,” the message says. The department added that “those who wish to receive immunity from not allowing the application in the App Store” can sign the addition in the personal account of the developers on the Apple website.
The service also noted that in the operating system (OS) iOS 15, the company added the Screen Time API (Application Programming Interface) in relation to parental control applications. Using the API will expand the functionality of parental control applications, which will create a condition for competition with Apple’s built-in Screen Time smartphones.
On January 17 of this year, the FAS fined the company 1.1 billion rubles. for imposing on Russian developers the need to use its payment system in their applications and forbidding the use of other payment methods.
