An application for registration of the Rostic`s brand has been submitted to Rospatent

The Unirest company, through which the Russian divisions of KFC worked, filed an application with Rospatent for the registration of the Rostic`s brand, the agency reports. “Moscow”which is said to have the relevant documentation.
The publication reports that the Rostic`s trademark is registered according to international classification classes, which allow, in particular, the production and sale of chicken, fish and meat dishes, as well as the provision of cafe, restaurant services and food delivery.
At the end of October 2022, the American holding Yum! Brands informed on the sale of the Russian business, including 70 KFC restaurants and the brand’s master franchise, to Izhevsk-based Smart Service, a former local KFC franchisee. Under the terms of the agreement, the franchisee must eventually rebrand all points of the network and rename the restaurants to Rostic`s.
At the same time, there are about 1.1 thousand KFC restaurants in Russia and several hundred former franchisees who are asking the government to stop the sale of the Smart Service network. Now the deal is being approved by a special commission of the government. As Kommersant FM found out, local owners are unhappy that the KFC brand will no longer be in the country, and royalties and marketing fees for them will remain the same – 11%.
The KFC chain came to Russia in 1993, having entered into a partnership agreement with Rosinter, and for a long time the chain restaurants worked under the banner of Rostik’s. According to the Moskva agency, an application has been submitted to Rospatent for the registration of a brand written in English – Rostic`s.
