Amendments have been introduced to the State Duma on the termination of citizenship for committing crimes
Introduced to the State Duma bill on the loss of acquired citizenship of the Russian Federation in the event of committing two or more criminal offenses of any severity or three or more administrative offenses in the field of public order and security. The authorship of the initiative belongs to deputies Mikhail Matveev and Sergei Obukhov from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
The explanatory note to the bill states that amendments are proposed to be made to Art. 22 of the Federal Law of April 28, 2023 No. 138-FE “On Citizenship of the Russian Federation”, as a result of which citizenship will be terminated upon the commission of two or more criminal offenses, as well as upon the commission of three or more administrative offenses specified in Chapter. 20 “Administrative offenses encroaching on public order and public safety.”
On September 30, the government commission on legislative activities, without comments, supported three initiatives by Irina Yarovaya and Oleg Morozov (both United Russia), tightening responsibility for illegal migration. The first draft transfers illegal stay in Russia to the category of aggravating circumstances when committing any crimes, the second strengthens administrative liability for falsifying documents for the purpose of illegal migration, and the third toughens punishment for its organizers.
