Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Brodsky said that in the issue of supporting Kyiv, Israel is creating insurmountable restrictions on its ties with Russia, according to the Washington Post.

The diplomat said he was aware of the dissatisfaction of some Ukrainian Jews with Israel’s position towards the Ukrainian conflict. But Israel’s ties with the Russian Federation in the field of security create such restrictions in this matter that cannot be overcome, he stated.

“No government in Israel will jeopardize this interest for the sake of anyone, including Ukrainians,” Brodsky was quoted as saying by WP.

The situation in which Israel found itself, Brodsky called “fragile.”

Earlier, the Haaretz newspaper, citing sources in the EU, reported that Israel had stepped up intelligence assistance to Kyiv through a NATO channel. It was noted that in this case, the role of the “catalyst” was played by the “military assistance” allegedly provided to Moscow by Iran. The publication writes that before Tehran’s intervention in the conflict, the Israeli government stubbornly refused to provide Ukraine with any military support, limiting itself only to humanitarian aid.
