All-Russian competitions in honor of Anastasia Diodorova will be held in Yakutsk



From October 2 to 5, the All-Russian competition “Northern Wave” will be held in the Cholbon swimming pool in the city of Yakutsk, dedicated to the Honored Master of Sports of Russia and winner of the XIII Paralympic Games Anastasia Diodorova. Athletes with musculoskeletal disorders will take part in the competition.

It is expected that representatives of four regions will participate in the competition: Samara Region, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, Khabarovsk Territory and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Athletes will compete for 36 sets of medals in five disciplines: freestyle (50m, 100m, 200m), butterfly (50m, 100m), backstroke (100m), breaststroke (100m) and medley ( 200 m).

In addition, as part of the event, an open republican swimming tournament will be held among all nosologies.

Anastasia Diodorova, in whose honor the competition is held, ended her career in big-time sports. She is a silver medalist at the XIII Paralympic Games in Beijing (2008), a finalist at the XII Paralympic Games in Athens (2004) and the XIV Paralympic Games in London (2012), and a participant in the XVI Paralympic Games in Tokyo (2021). Diodorova is a three-time world champion and seven-time European champion, highlighting her outstanding achievements in swimming on the international stage.
