Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation on culture Tolstoy called for the development of rules for the transfer of exhibits to the Russian Orthodox Church

Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation for Culture Vladimir Tolstoy said that it is necessary to develop clear rules for the transfer of museum exhibits to the Russian Orthodox Church, including the opinion of the professional community.

He noted that certain rules and a systematic history should be developed for the transfer of exhibits and that this should not be a spontaneous decision.

Tolstoy emphasized that the transfer of the exhibits must take place in accordance with the law and regulations, as well as taking into account the opinion of professionals who understand the threats that exist for these monuments.

He also noted that there is no need to wait until something like this happens, and that you need to sit down with a narrow group of professionals and work out these rules together with the ROC and follow them.

He added that if professionals say that the threat exists, then other solutions must be found. Tolstoy emphasized that there was no need to speculate on the topic of transferring exhibits to the church, and that it was necessary to treat this issue calmly and balancedly. The main issue, according to him, is the preservation of the main shrines, cultural values and sacred values for future generations.

Tolstoy made these statements to journalists on Tuesday.
