Accused of harassing a partner, the British military declared his demisexuality

A British Royal Navy engineer accused of harassing a male colleague has been found not guilty, reports the Daily Mail. The decision was made after the defendant declared his non-binary and demisexuality.

The Bulford Military Court acquitted the engineer Triss Smythe, who insisted that he simply could not have done what he was accused of. According to Smythe, which the court took into account, he is demisexual. That is, a person for whom physical intimacy without a strong emotional attachment is impossible.

The 23-year-old technical engineer, denying the allegations, said that he really hugged and kissed a colleague in an aircraft hangar. He was able to convince the judges, based on the ruling, that the kiss was purely "platonic".
