Access to the Okko online cinema has been restricted in Belarus – Kommersant
By decision of the Ministry of Information in Belarus, access to the Okko online cinema is limited. In the department claimthat the platform violated Art. 38 of the Law on Mass Media regarding the posting of “prohibited information aimed at promoting violence and cruelty.” What specific content the ministry was not satisfied with was not specified.
This year, Okko was brought to administrative responsibility several times in Russia for “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations.” In March, the Primorsky District Court of St. Petersburg fined online cinema for 1 million rubles. for showing the series “Annika”, “The One” and “My Dead Ex”. In May the same court appointed OKKO LLC received a similar fine for the film Yves Saint Laurent.
In August, a law on drug propaganda was adopted, which will also affect works of literature and art. Under its influence will not fall under all literature published before August 1, 1990, as well as works of art in which drugs are “an integral part of the artistic concept.” Publishers and video services will be required to label content that mentions drugs.
