In Russia, it is necessary to develop a separate program for the development of the bulk fleet (specialized ships for the transport of bulk cargo) for the supply of coal for export. This is stated in the presentation of the REA analytical center of the Ministry of Energy, which was reviewed by Vedomosti. REA estimates the need for new bulk carriers by 2030 at 79 Panamax class units (52,500 dwt) and 13 Capesize class units (170,000 dwt).

It follows from the presentation that the export of Russian coal by 2030, if the negative scenario is implemented, may decrease by 64 million tons, or by 30% compared to 2021, but in the target scenario – by only 1.8%, or 4 million tons ( Vedomosti wrote about this on September 22). According to the results of the current year, coal exports are expected to fall by 18% compared to last year, or 182 million tons.
