The Ministry of Economic Development has corrected the forecast for the ruble exchange rate in favor of its strengthening. In 2022, the average annual value of the dollar is expected to reach 68.1 rubles/$. In 2023, the authorities expect the national currency to weaken to 68.3 rubles/$, in 2024 to 70.9 rubles/$, and in 2025 to 72.2 rubles/$. Such parameters for the forecast of socio-economic development are given in the Main Directions of the Budget and Tax Policy of the Ministry of Finance (the document is available from Vedomosti). In the previous version of the forecast, presented relatively recently – at the end of August, the ministry expected the exchange rate in 2023-2025. at the level of 69.2 rubles/$, 72.9 rubles/$ and 74.8 rubles/$.
By 6 p.m. on September 22, the dollar was trading on the Moscow Exchange at 58.7 rubles. On average, in September 2022, the exchange rate was 57.5 rubles / $. The forecast assumes a gradual easing by the Bank of Russia of the unprecedented restrictions on capital movements introduced in February-March 2022, the document specifies.
