The National Payment Card System (NSPK) has set a limit of 3,000 rubles. to pay for purchases using a sticker without entering a PIN, said TASS press service of the NSPK.

A payment sticker is a sticker with an NFC chip. You can stick it on your smartphone and pay for purchases without a card. You can also use the sticker to withdraw money from ATMs that support contactless withdrawal.

“Limits for carrying out transactions using a sticker without entering a PIN code are set by the Mir payment system at the level of 3,000 rubles, as well as for a regular Mir contactless card,” the press release says.

The NSPK also said that in case of loss of a payment sticker, one should act in the same way as in case of loss of a plastic card: immediately block it in the bank's mobile application or contact a financial institution.

The press service said that 16 banks have now started issuing or testing stickers. “NSPK imposes the same requirements on the security and design of stickers as on ordinary plastic cards. Payments using them are protected in accordance with all security standards,” the organization emphasized.

Banks began testing a new payment tool — payment stickers — after Apple Pay and Google Pay contactless payment systems stopped working in Russia. For iPhone owners, stickers are the only contactless payment method. Android smartphone users can use Mir Pay or SberPay for this purpose.
