In his blog Jean-Pierre Thibaudat, former journalist of Releasehad in fact divulged the provenance of these manuscripts, which had disappeared from the writer’s apartment in Paris after his flight to Germany in June 1944. According to him, they were recovered by a resistance fighter, who “lived in Céline’s requisitioned apartmentat the Liberation, Yvon Morandat.

The journalist will respect the wish of the Morandat family, which wants these manuscripts to remain hidden as long as Céline’s wife, Lucette Destouches, is alive. After his death at the age of 107, in 2019, Thibaudat contacted Céline’s heirs. He must give them the manuscripts in June 2021. He has been dismissed from the work of publishing their content by Gallimard editions: the unpublished novel War in May 2022, and others to follow, the next of which will be London in October.
