The Russian mapping service 2GIS has disappeared from the Apple App Store.

In the Android App Store, Google Play, the app is still available.

The main owner of the 2GIS service is Sberbank, which owns 72% of the company’s shares. The application of the bank itself, Sberbank Online, is no longer available in the App Store and Google Play – it was removed after the introduction of US sanctions against Sberbank in April this year, which imply a ban on American businesses from cooperating with a Russian company.

The service began to be developed in Novosibirsk in the late 1990s. The maps were originally released on CD, then an online version for computers appeared, and an application for iPhone and Android appeared in 2011.

Now the service has maps and directories for 1060 cities from 12 countries. The audience of 2GIS is estimated at 60 million people, more than 22 million people use the mobile application.

It is reported that previously downloaded applications continue to work.
